A Seminar on ‘IPR –Emerging Trends in Business & Industry’ was organized today (28 September 2011) by FAPCCI in association with TRICONS at Federation House, Red Hills, Hydrabad. This Seminar was intended to get first hand information on the issues faced by various professionals related to Trade Marks, patents & Copyrights (Intellectual Property Rights).
Mr. V. Natarajan, Dy. Registrar, Trade Mark, Registry & Geographical Indications, Chennai was the chief guest for this seminar.
Mr. V. Natarajan emphasized the need to recognize the value of Indian products and its origin needs to be protected. He was of the opinion that many professionals of IPR are not invoking the valid and relevant laws and thereby adding to delay and confusion on decisions. Protection and Enforcement of Trade Marks Law needs to be applied properly. He also remarked on the protection of natural products under geographical indications. He was instrumental in getting the G.I. for Tirupati Laddus. He said that it was surprising that the Khadi cloth in India is yet to be protected under this law.
The FAPCCI President Mr. V.S. Raju felt the need for setting up Regional Trade Mark Registry in Hyderabad as travelling to Chennai Office has become cumbersome and expensive.
Mr. Sunil Bhaskar Ganu -Senior Advocate, Mr. Vijayanandan Reddy, IPR Consultant, Tricons, Mr. Donthy Venkat Reddy, IPR Consultant, Mr. M.V. Rajeshwara Rao, Secretary General, Mr. A.S. Kumar, Deputy Secretary General, Mr. B.V. Rama Kumar, Mrs HSS Parkal and many others from industrial and professional sector and students from various places have participated in the seminar.
